Website: Schlager.de
The Challenge
Schlager.de had grown across multiple digital touchpoints, but its visual identity lacked consistency and a contemporary digital character. The goal was to create a recognizable brand system that works across web, social media and app while preserving the emotional and approachable spirit of the Schlager world.
Before the Redesign
Key challenges
Inconsistent visual language across touchpoints
Limited flexibility across digital formats
Dense content hierarchy and limited readability
Brand Direction
I developed a more flexible visual system built around bold colors, expressive gradients and a clearer typographic hierarchy. The new direction was designed to stay recognizable across very different digital formats.
A Logo Built from Sound
To create a mark rooted in the brand itself, I recorded myself saying “Schlager.de” and used the resulting audio waveform as the starting point for the new symbol. The waveform creates a direct visual connection to sound and music and became a flexible graphic element beyond the logo itself.
Color & Type
A vibrant palette of soft blue-violet, orange and mint green brought more energy to the brand while allowing different content formats to feel distinct. Gradients connect the colors into a more expressive and recognizable visual language. A simplified typographic hierarchy supports stronger headlines and improves clarity across editorial formats.
Clearer Digital Experience
The previous website used a dense visual structure with competing content elements. I simplified the hierarchy, introduced more whitespace and created clearer distinctions between editorial content, navigation and supporting elements. The redesigned interface makes the homepage easier to scan while bringing the new visual identity into the digital product.
Flexible Social System
For social media, I created a flexible system that could support very different editorial formats — from charts and rankings to releases, quizzes and recurring content series - while maintaining a consistent brand presence.
Outcome
The result is a more flexible digital identity that can adapt to very different content formats while still feeling distinctly Schlager.de. From the sound-inspired logo to web, social and app, the system creates a more consistent experience across every touchpoint.
Created as part of my role at FUNKE Digital. All brand and content rights remain with FUNKE Digital and the respective rights holders.
Extending the Brand to the App
The new visual language was also extended to the Schlager.de app, bringing the same colors, gradients and graphic principles into the App Store presence and mobile touchpoints.
